Florida Hospital Pink Army Soldiers See Red!

Attention Soldier! We want to thank you for leading the charge in the fight against breast cancer. With your help, Florida Hospital was able to bring greater education and awareness to our community, as well as raise funds to help local women in-need access lifesaving mammograms.

We wish to recognize our screening partner Mortara for their generous contribution and support.

Great strides were made in the battle against breast cancer, so why are so many Pink Army soldiers seeing red?

Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of women regardless of race or ethnicity.
At every age, more women in the U.S. die from cardiovascular disease than from cancer – that's ANY type of cancer, including breast cancer.
Nearly 60% more women die of cardiovascular disease (that includes both coronary heart disease and stroke) than from all cancers combined.
One in 30 American women die of breast cancer, while one in three die of cardiovascular disease.

Once considered largely a man's disease, there was a time when doctor's rarely looked for coronary heart disease in women. The reality is that coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S.

In fact, in every year since 1900 (except for 1918), cardiovascular disease accounted for more deaths in the U.S. than any other cause. However, over the past 40 years, there has been a striking reduction in coronary heart disease deaths in men, but reductions in women have lagged behind. More women than men die of coronary heart disease every year, which has been the case for the last 25 years.

We simply can't stand by and let this enemy continue to attack our men and women. That's why, soldier, we want to give you a new mission. Become more aware about your risk and share this life-saving information with others you know.
